Fees, Child Care Subsidy and enrolment

Understand the practical steps involved in arranging Family Day Care, including how fees are confirmed, how Child Care Subsidy may apply and what information is required before your child begins care.

Understanding Fees

Family Day Care fees may differ between educators and care arrangements. Families should receive clear information about the proposed fees and conditions before enrolment is completed.

Educator arrangements

Fees may reflect the educator’s operating hours, location, service arrangement and the type of care requested.

Booking conditions

Minimum booking periods, absence charges, notice requirements and reserved-place arrangements should be confirmed in advance.

Out-of-pocket cost

Where Child Care Subsidy applies, families remain responsible for any balance or gap fee that is not covered by the subsidy.

Australian Government assistance

Child Care Subsidy

CCS is administered by Services Australia. Malaika Garden cannot decide a family’s eligibility or determine the final subsidy amount.

Check your eligibility before care begins

Families generally need to use an approved child care service, be responsible for paying the fees and meet the relevant eligibility requirements.

The amount paid depends on the family’s circumstances and the applicable government rules. Families should keep their income, activity, relationship and other relevant information up to date with Services Australia.

A CCS claim should be made directly through Services Australia. Approval by Malaika Garden is not the same as approval for CCS.

The Enrolment Process

Enrolment begins only after a potentially suitable educator and care arrangement have been identified.

01

Care enquiry

Tell us your child’s age, suburb, required days and preferred commencement date.

02

Matching

The service considers available educators and whether the proposed arrangement may be suitable.

03

Meet the educator

Discuss the environment, routines, fees, operating hours and your child’s individual needs.

04

Complete enrolment

Provide the required information, authorisations and health or emergency details.

05

Commence care

Begin on the confirmed date after all arrangements have been approved and completed.

Information Required for Enrolment

The service needs accurate information to support your child’s safety, wellbeing and lawful enrolment.

  • Residential and postal address
  • Emergency contacts

Before the First Day

A clear orientation supports the child, family and educator to begin the arrangement with shared expectations.

Confirm the routine

Prepare the child

Talk positively about the educator and care environment and explain what will happen in age-appropriate language.

A child cannot commence care until the service has confirmed the placement and all required enrolment and safety information has been completed.
